“Patience Principle” Luke 21:19

Luke 21:19.
"In your patience possess ye your souls."

We live Life in the Fast lane! –Everybody is in a Big Hurry to get to where we are going and not even sure where that is! Satan loves to see us in the
Fast lane
–It is here that he can Push – Pull at us with Ease and easily get us Distracted from our True Heavenly AssignmentJesus Understands
this and also
Confronts this in Luke 21:19 –Somewhere down the line we have to come to Terms with the Value of Patience.

Patience Principle :: 20140610

What does He Mean
“in your Patience Possess ye your souls”?  He means that Patience is the Power of Self Control –This is a quality that so many lack –
1-
Circumstances Control us,
2-
People Control us,

3- Environment Control us,
we seem to be
pulled To / Fro by a Whole Host of External Forces and the Whole Time we are Never in Control of Ourselves.

_____your spouse, kids, family, co-workers –don’t know who you are____

We Explode in Anger without Explanation –Say Harsh Words to People we love / say I’m Sorry / say we don’t know why we said it –
We awake in Middle
of Night Filled with Worry, Anxiety, Tension, regarding a SituationConflict or Decision-

Patience Means that Our Motivation is Internalthat our Inner Strength is Greater than Our External Stress and that we are in Control of Our

Thoughts, Feelings, Attitudesand Actions.

The
Context of the Scripture was when Persecution Arose –Without Patience they would not be able to

EndureStand Firm Under Pressure

Ability to Endure, Stand Firm, continue steadfastly in the Face of Opposition-

We Cannot Always Change the Outward Circumstances, but We Can Change our Inward Attitude –
Patience
is that Inward Attitude that Enables us to Stand and Having Done All to Stand-Stand----

1 Kings 18:41-46    –go back 7 times –cloud size of mans hand

 Power of Consistency-

Inconsistency is a Problem that Defeats many People –Starting the Race is No Problem –Establishing a
Consistent
Pace that Will Carry us Across the Finish Line is a Real Issue

· Patience Actually Helps Shape our Perspective

· Hebrews 11:13 (KJV)  These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having s
een them afar off, and were persuaded of
them, and embraced them, and confessed that they
were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Ability to Wait for the Fulfillment of Our Dreams-

The Word Wait is almost Extent from our Vocabulary –Wait is not an Idle Word but very Active

  • It is a Choice not to Act Impulsively(beyond God’s Timing) or Improperly(Leaving God Out
  • 1 Sam 13:8-13, ...tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him……Samuel said, What hast thou done? ….”

Daniel6:  10. Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
1 Kings 18:  41.  And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
 42.  So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,
 43.  And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
 44.  And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.
 45.  And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.
 46.  And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
